My wife and I recently finished a Game of Thrones marathon, and I would like to talk about something I had forgotten about: Tormund & Brienne.
During the initial viewings of the series I didn’t really think much about them, other than having a chuckle during the scenes where they interact, but before this viewing I had started reading the books, and while watching their scenes I started…

In the TV show they highlight only a few female Wildling soldiers, but the books showcase much more prominently: “Spearwives”, a whole group of warrior women.
The relationship between Tormund and Brienne in the show is mostly played off for comedy, but lets be honest Brienne could do far worse than a relationship with Tormund.

Sure, Tormund is very rough around the edges, but at his core I think he is a good man, and he would WORSHIP Brienne. He would treat her as an equal, and would respect her as a soldier and knight because north of the wall warrior women are not an anomaly. Also consider that Brienne is a proud skilled warrior and wouldn’t take any disrespect that Tormund or anyone else might send her way. She’s a good teacher, and as (co)chief of a tribe would be an excellent leader. After she’d knocked a few heads together I think any people that might not like her initially would come around….. probably rather quickly.
And lets be honest, her influence on Tormund would probably be quite beneficial to the tribe as well!
I don’t for second actually think that Tormund and Brienne will get together in the books. In fact, I don’t think they’ve even MET in the books, but lets be honest, Brienne could do a lot worse than Tormund, and I think would do VERY well north of the wall.
